Disappointing jobs data is driving fresh speculation over whether the Federal Reserve might take extra moves to boost the economy.

If recent reports are an indication that the economy may be losing steam, the central bank could feel compelled to act with another policy move that could boost markets but also expose it and its chairman, Ben Bernanke, to even more political scrutiny.

The Labor Department reported earlier this month that the economy added just 120,000 jobs in March, well below expectations and snapping a three-month streak of strong job gains.

And, on Thursday, new data showed the amount of people applying for new unemployment benefits had spiked to a two-month high.

The jury (the PUCN) made their decision today and we, like all other states now will be presented with an “opt out” to not have a smart meter. However, like the other states, it will cost us too. We don’t know how much yet, but in 60 days NVE will make a presentation to let us know exactly how much we will be stuffing their pockets with to keep their prying eyes out of our homes.

The shear power of this company and the clear side stepping of the law is unbelievable, and actually staggering!

Prayer Request

I have a prayer request. There’s a lady I’ve known forever. She’s very sick. On top of that, she’s being abused by those to whom she has given everything. Just breaks my heart. Seems there’s nothing I can do alone. But maybe, if we join in and lift her up together we can heal her. She’s well over 200 years old, but way too young to die. Her name is America … and I love her.

Billionaire financier George Soros thinks that, if Mitt Romney wins the
presidency, there will be “little difference” between him and Barack Obama in
the White House.

Soros offered the reassuring news to liberals across
Europe during an interview this week in Davos, Switzerland.

As policymakers from Hong Kong to Canada pressed Greece and its creditors to strike
a deal to cut the nation’s debt, Soros pressed in on GOP presidential candidate
Romney:

“Well, look, either you’ll have an extremist conservative, be it
Gingrich or Santorum, in which case I think it will make a big difference which
of the two comes in,” Soros told Reuters in a videotaped interview.

“If it’s between Obama and Romney, there isn’t all that much difference except for
the crowd that they bring with them.” Soros added, “Romney would have to
take Gingrich or Santorum as a vice president and you probably have some pretty
extreme candidates for the Supreme Court.”

“So it won’t be that great a difference,” he concluded, if Romney becomes president.

Talk radio host Rush Limbaugh described Soros’ move this way: “He’s endorsing Romney. ‘Romney,
that’s cool, no difference, I could go either way that way.’”

Soros also told Reuters that many hedge fund managers in the United States are backing
Romney because Obama wants to raise their taxes.

Soros predicted that “there won’t be a great deal of enthusiasm on either side of the battleground.
It will be more civilized than the previous elections have been.”

Just a quick update on the smart meter comment filing Jan 13^th and
the workshop on Jan 18^th. I would say we are now at a “line in the
sand” time frame with dealing with the smart meter issue.  I continue to
encourage you to be a participant in this process because the PUCN will be
making their recommendation to NVE, I believe some time in February.  If you are
opposed to smart meters, please let your voice be heard on the 18^th.
Here is what we know to date:

1.)   If you have not done so already you
need to call Dawn Rivard, the consumer outreach director for the PUCN at
486-7214.  Ask her to put your name on the service list concerning docket #
11-10007 “smart meter investigation.”  This means that you will be contacted by
the PUCN concerning the ongoing smart meter investigation.

2.)   Next,
write a letter, a comment, a short note expressing your concerns about the
opt-out situation that NVE is proposing. This is the only way you will be able
to speak on the 18^th if you wish to do so.  No comments, you can’t
speak. This comment letter needs to be filed no later than 12:00 noon at the
PUCN  Las Vegas Office, 9075 West Diablo Drive, Suite 250, Las Vegas, NV  89148

NVE’s  proposal is 78 pages long and if anyone still has not received a
copy let me know and I can forward that to you or if you need rule 16 which is
referenced in the NVE proposal, I can forward that as well.

Briefly,
in their proposal NVE wants to get rid of all analog meters.  They want to make
the new smart meter the standard meter and have proposed 4 other, non-standard
alternative meter situations, which would not necessarily be a smart meter.  The
catch is that those alternative situations would have an initial $100.00 plus
fee and there would be a monthly fee of roughly $15.00 into perpetuity once the
alternative situation has been initiated. They want to revise the current “Rule
16” to accommodate the changes mentioned above.

My presentation
approach is that I am just taking the NVE proposal line by line and rebutting
each concept that I disagree with.  Trust me, the concepts in my opinion are in
blatant disregard for our privacy and general consideration as customers of
NVE.  The problem is that I cannot address all the points that need to be
addressed in my 5-minute time slot.  I would be glad to help in pointing out
areas that need to be addressed and to help formulate a response that could be
given at the Jan 18^th presentation if someone would like that
assistance.  This could be our last chance to stop the invasion of our privacy,
as we know it.  This is a very serious issue.
